Our ability to save dogs is limited by our resources, the main one being space. Fosters who open their homes to our rescued dogs are a big part of our team. We have almost as many dogs in foster homes as we do at the rescue now. While it takes love, patience and compassion for fosters to help adoptable dogs learn all of the manners needed to live in a home, there is a special niche within the fostering world that takes the most loving and compassionate of hearts; hospice fostering. Speranza has been lucky enough to help some very sick dogs live some very good months/years in loving foster homes in what time that they had left. Fostering is so rewarding when you see your foster dogs go to adoptive homes, but it is hard to describe the emotions involved in taking in and loving a dog that doesn't have much time. We struggle to find words to express our gratitude to our hospice fosters. We appreciate your opening your homes and hearts to love dogs that need you the most, but most of all we appreciate the strength it takes to do what you do.
